A farmer had puppies he wanted to sell. He painted a sign announcing 4 puppies and nailed him to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was planting the last nail, he felt someone pull on his overalls ... He saw a little boy.
"Sir," said he, "I would like to buy one of your puppies. "
"Well," said the farmer, rubbing the sweat on the back of his neck, "These puppies come from very classy parents and cost a lot of money. "
The boy bowed his head for a moment. Then, digging deep in his pocket, he pulled out a handful of money and handed it to the farmer. "I have forty cents. Is it enough to see them? "
"Of course," said the farmer. And he let out a hissing sound. "Here, Dolly! He called.
Coming from the niche and down to the fence, Dolly ran, followed by four small balls of hair. The little boy pressed his face against the fence. His eyes sparkled with joy. As the dogs arrived at the fence, the little boy noticed something else moving inside the niche.
Slowly, another smaller ball of hair appeared doing its best to catch up with the others ...
"I would like that one," said the little boy, pointing to the latter.
The farmer knelt beside the boy and said, "Do not choose this puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like those other dogs would. "
The little boy pulled back from the fence, stooped down and started to pull up the leg of his pants. In doing so, he revealed a steel splint placed on both sides of the leg and attached to a specially designed shoe. Looking up at the farmer, he says, "You see, sir, I do not run very well myself, and he will need someone who understands him. "
With tears in his eyes, the farmer bent down and picked up the little puppy and handed it to the little boy.
" How many? Asked the little boy ...
"Nothing," replied the peasant, "there is no price for love. "
The world is full of people who need someone who understands them.
